About Golf Ireland:
Golf Ireland is the single governing body for golf, established in January 2021, and is responsible for leading, growing and supporting the game of golf throughout the island of Ireland.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Limerick. The job will focus on delivery of golf activities in community and schools setting in line with Golf Irelands ambitious strategy to ensure Golf is a game for everyone. This role will also form an integral part of Golf Ireland’s Major Events
Legacy Programme of work including the legacy of the Ryder Cup. The successful candidate will play a crucial part in the delivery and coordination of Golf Ireland’s participation initiatives and play a key role in the broader Development and Club Support Department.

About the Role:
This role was created to ensure Golf Ireland have the resources to deliver on an ambitious strategic plan to realise that Golf is a game for everyone. The Officer will primarily work in school and community settings coordinating and delivering golf activities to target groups.
Principal Responsibilities:
• Deliver development and participation programmes in schools, colleges, community settings and golf clubs across the region in line with the Golf Ireland Strategy and annual operations plan.
• Build strong relationships with schools, community groups, key golfing stakeholders, and relevant local, regional, and national bodies.
• Work as part of the Regional Team as well as the overall National Development and Club Support Team.
• Deliver training and education courses such as Community Golf Instructor.
• Deliver specific equality, disability, and inclusion programmes such as Chip & Chat.
• Recruit, retain and develop a network of volunteers, community golf instructors, community leaders and teachers, who in turn deliver opportunities to participate in golf activities.
• Delivery of participation initiatives and event activation.
• Work at major events on behalf of Golf Ireland.
• Respond to enquiries in a timely manner, keeping appropriate records.
• Be willing to travel on a regular basis. The Golf in the Community Officer will be delivering golf activities 4 days per week depending on the time of year.
• Support the Club Support Officers to deliver specific Golf Ireland Development Programmes.
• Coordinate locally and deliver on Golf Ireland Legacy programme initiatives.
• Input to Golf Ireland’s annual operations planning process.
• Monitor, review and report on the impact of initiatives in the region.
• Be responsible for the administration and record keeping of stock in the region.
• Administer workshops/events as required.
• Support the work of the Regional Office as requested.
Please note: Some of the key responsibilities listed above are seasonal by nature and will not
be required all year around. Priorities will be outlined in the operational plan. The role by its
nature will evolve and the post holder may be required to undertake duties not specifically
outlined in this Job Description.
About the Candidate:
Experience & Knowledge.
• Experience delivering/leading sporting activities is essential.
• An understanding of golf.
• Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders.
• Understand current Golf Ireland development and club support guidance, resources and initiatives.
• Experience working in sports development as a volunteer or professional.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Relevant degree desirable (e.g. Sports Management, Sports Development, Coaching etc).
Competencies & Attributes:
• Ability to deliver group-based Golf activities.
• Energetic and enthusiastic to deliver golf activities to target groups.
• Strong communication skills and administration skills.
• Can journey plan and time manage effectively.
• Has the ability to work independently and as part of a team and follow direction.

• Willing to be held to account and measured on performance.
• Open to receiving and taking on board constructive feedback.
• Proven ability to coach/lead sporting/golfing activities to a wide variety of target groups.
• Be willing to travel on a regular basis to deliver Golf Activities.
• Ability to inspire others to get into golf.
• Full clean driving licence with access to own car is essential.
• I.T proficient with good understanding of all Microsoft packages (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Terms And Conditions:
This is a 3-year contract role on a full-time basis, reporting to Golf Ireland’s Development & Participation Manager.
