Role Location
Cycling Ireland Head Office, HQ2, Sport Ireland Campus, minimum 2 days per week in the office if Hybrid working is required.

Full-time, fixed-term 1-year contract, with intended extension subject to funding.
Role Purpose
The Cycling Inclusion and Para-Cycling Officer (CIPO) will play a central role in the growth, coordination, and promotion of cycling inclusion and para cycling across Ireland. Working closely with Cycling Ireland staff including Participation team and Para-Cycling Development Coach, Para-cycling Commission, Local Sports Partnerships, and National Disability Sport organisations, the officer will develop and deliver initiatives that enhance participation opportunities, talent development, and pathways for people with disabilities in cycling.
Job Purpose Summary
The CIPO will work to promote and encourage the participation and involvement of people with disabilities to participate in cycling and/or take up roles as volunteers and sports leaders in the sport.
They will work closely with Cycling Ireland staff, clubs, provinces, commissions and stakeholders to
1. Promote an inclusive culture in Cycling Ireland clubs with specific focus on encouraging and supporting clubs to commit to Active Disability Ireland’s Sport Inclusion Charter and the Xcessiible Programme
2. Create and sustain partnerships with voluntary and public sector partners that support the development and sustainability of cycling for people with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Participation and Pathways
– Develop and deliver inclusion and para-cycling programmes for people with disabilities
– Work closely with para cycling development coach to create opportunities for talent identifications and development
– Work with Cycling Ireland’s Regional Development Officers to support cycling clubs to enhance their capacity to deliver inclusive programmes and welcome more people with disabilities
– Lead the delivery and organisation of the Para-Cycling National League, National Championships, and other key events
– Establish key collaborations with Local Sports Partnerships’ Social Inclusion Disability Officers (SIDOs), and disability sport bodies (e.g. Irish Wheelchair Association, Vision Sports Ireland, Active Disability Ireland, Paralympics Ireland) to coordinate programmes and initiatives
– Support the Para-Cycling Commission in planning, communications, and competition coordination

– Share success stories, promote inclusive opportunities, and communicate key messages about para-cycling development.
– Produce accurate and timely reports, presentations, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Administration
– Monitor and evaluate programmes, reporting on participation, outcomes, and impact.
– Contribute to strategic planning for para-cycling development within Cycling Ireland.
Training and Development of participation program.
– Identify training and education needs within cycling clubs to enhance inclusion and accessibility.
– Coordinate with partners to develop and deliver inclusive coaching and awareness workshops where appropriate.
Qualifications and experience
Each candidate ideally should have a 3rd level degree qualification in sports development, leisure management, adapted physical activity, community development, health promotion or other relevant discipline.
– 2-3 years’ experience working in the sports development / community sector or adapted physical activity, or other relevant discipline.
– 1-year experience working in a similar role i.e. working in communities piloting and developing, project management, facilitating and delivering sport and physical activity programmes.
– Understanding and experience of working with people with disabilities.
– Awareness and understanding of different models of disability and para-cycling pathway criteria as well as current issues for people with a disability/older adult to take part in cycling.
-Inter-personal skills to involve people, clubs and communities in the planning, delivery and evaluation of programmes and initiatives.
-Experience in programme monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
– Excellent communication (oral and written), administration, organisational and presentation skills with a strong ability to produce and disseminate information efficiently and accurately.
– Fully proficient in Microsoft Office.
– A full clean driving licence and use of personal transport for work is required.
Please note that this position will require flexibility around working hours with regards evenings and weekend due to working closely with volunteers.
Remuneration & Conditions
Salary: Commensurate package with experience and in line with funding parameters.
Hours: 39 hours per week. Flexibility required, including some evenings and weekends.
Travel: Extensive regional travel required; mileage reimbursed in accordance with Cycling Ireland policy.
