To continue its development, an exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced visionary leader to fill the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the LGFA. This is a pivotal position, to lead the Association in its continued development as one of the largest, fastest growing, active and dynamic sports worldwide.
About the Role
The CEO of the LGFA has, subject to the direction of the Management Committee, responsibility for providing strategic and operational leadership to the Association, ensuring the functions of the Association as defined in the rules, are carried out effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as chief advisor to the Management Committee and Central Council on matters of policy and translating them into effective action.
- Providing strategic and operational leadership, ensuring the delivery of the objectives of the LGFA’s current strategic plan.
- Leading and managing a strong, integrated and effective staff.
- Working closely with the Management Committee and Central Council to shape the LGFA’s long term strategic vision.
- Maintaining the highest standards of compliance and corporate governance and fostering an ethical culture within the Association.
- Overall responsibility for the operations of the Association and its financial and resource management, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
- Fostering and developing a wide variety of stakeholder relationships, developing appropriate working relationships with Government departments and state agencies to advance the LGFA mission.
- Work closely with the Gaelic Games organisations on the pathway towards integration.
Requirements
To be considered for the role candidates must have:
The following knowledge and experience:
- Considerable experience (circa 10 years) at a senior management level in the development and delivery of key strategic initiatives in a fast moving and results oriented organisation.
- A relevant third level qualification.
- A successful track record in the initiation, development and delivery of strategic plans and the ability to bring a strategic vision to the future planning of the Association.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial management and reporting.
- A background in sporting and sports development environments with an understanding of the structures and governance requirements of the Association.
- A passion for sport and an understanding of the operating environment and the key stakeholders.

- Inspirational leadership skills and a track record in people management and organisational development.
- The ability to maintain the vision for the future development of the Association, and the personal credibility to engage a wide range of stakeholders in that vision.
- A strong track record in the successful management of major change initiatives with the ability to implement and transition both organisations and their people through change and integration.
- Superior influencing skills and experience.
- Well developed analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrable experience of making sound judgements on major issues and the capacity to take the necessary consequential action.
- Proven communication and media management skills.
TERM
This is a 5 year fixed term contract position commencing in January 2026.
Location
Due to the demands of the role the position is Dublin based and requires significant travel to fulfil the full breadth of its responsibilities.
