
David is an experienced international sports administrator. Originally from Castlebar, Co.Mayo, David commenced his career in Professional Services with Deloitte Consulting in London. From here he transitioned into the sports industry and over the last 15 years has gained extensive experience across a range of Major Events and National Governing Bodies.
Appointed CEO of the FAI in October 2024, David was former Chief Operating Officer of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) David is responsible for setting the direction for Irish football with a focus on off pitch activity – covering for example Strategy, Technology, Governance, Facilities and Major Events. His first foray into the football industry was with the English Football Association (The FA) where, as Head of Business Management, he was responsible for helping The FA to define and deliver on its strategy and where he introduced what has been recognised by UEFA as an industry leading business planning process. David headed up the UK and Ireland (UK&I) FIFA World Cup 2030 Bid which evolved into the now successful UEFA EURO 2028 bid. Major events have been a constant through David’s career – previously holding roles such as Operations Manager for the Olympic Stadium at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics and Director of Operations for the British Paralympic Association (BPA) across both Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 – two record setting games for ParalympicsGB.
