ABOUT THE ROLE
Job Title: Performance Jumps Lead Reports to: Performance Field Event Lead
Purpose of Role: To drive the further development of the Jumps event-group in Ireland at Performance and Performance Pathway levels
Details:
- The position is half-time (18.75 hours each week). Generally, it is expected that 75 hours would be worked each day.
- The role is Dublin based, with time required to be spent at the head office of Athletics Ireland (AAI), and at Sport Ireland Institute (SII).
- The position will incorporate the need for weekend and evening work and international/national
- Candidates should have a strong background in a performance environment, and should have a thorough understanding of the sport and the event-groups at Development through to Performance levels
KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, in conjunction with the Performance Field Event Lead and Performance Pathway Manager, in overseeing the implementation, staffing, and coordination of a Performance Jumps Programme.
- Define, in conjunction with Performance Field Event lead, the Athlete Development Pathway for the Jumps event
- Serve as a Key point of contact on the HP team for supported Jumps athletes and their coaches
- Lead and coordinate event group contact time including Training Camp opportunities, both domestically and
- Assist in the preparation for all Team Ireland Championship activities: camps, selection criteria and selections, team staffing, etc.
- Serve as Jumps Lead at Pathway and Senior Championships where relevant and required, and capacity allows
- Monitor the performances of high performing athletes at the Pathway and Senior
- Develop comprehensive individualised annual performance plans with identified supported pathway athlete-coach
- Provide technical input, where relevant and appropriate, to supported coach-athlete pairs in jumps
- Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews with supported senior and pathway athlete-coach
- Work towards creating athlete centred, coach-driven support teams across range of performance services around identified supported athlete-coach pairs.
- Disseminate event specific knowledge to athletes and coaches while providing technical leadership of event specific
- Effectively communicate Athletics Ireland initiatives, programmes and policies with event group athletes and
- Work to strengthen the culture of the High Performance
- Other duties as assigned by the Performance Field Event
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Key Attributes and Capabilities
- Hold a minimum of AAI Level 2 Coaching Certification
- Experience in Development and Delivery of Coach Education
- Thorough understanding of the sport of Athletics, and the Jumps events in particular, at Development through to Performance levels
- High-level written and verbal communication
- Financial management
- Excellent project management, time management, planning, and reporting
- Detail
- Capable of displaying strong leadership in all
