Munster Cricket (operating as the Munster Cricket Union) is seeking experienced and motivated volunteers with a background in dealing with legal and governance matters OR commercial development and marketing, to sit on its executive board as independent members.  Experience of the sporting sector is desirable but not essential.  This is a voluntary role. (There are two positions available)

About Munster Cricket

Munster Cricket is currently engaged in the process of transforming from an unincorporated voluntary body into a company limited by guarantee (completed by end 2019) and is also updating its governance structures to reflect best practice.  It has also recently recruited a full-time cricket manager to drive the development of the game in the Munster region.

Munster Cricket is the governing body for cricket in the province of Munster.  It is affiliated to Cricket Ireland and works closely with that body on initiatives to expand the growth of cricket throughout Munster.

Munster Cricket is tasked with managing, promoting and developing cricket throughout the large catchment area that is Munster in a sustainable manner.  Specifically, its remit is to:

  • Expand participation in the game, especially at youth level;
  • Create structures and an infrastructure to support that expansion;
  • Ensure the long-term viability and health of the game in Munster.

Time commitment

Board members are expected to attend (in person or by conference call) approximately six meetings of two hours duration per year.  There may also be some involvement in subcommittees dealing with governance issues.
