Marketing & Communications Officer

 Ireland Active is seeking to appoint a Marketing & Communications Officer to assist with the continued growth of the organisation. Ireland Active is the representative body for Ireland’s leisure, health and fitness industry, representing over 350 organisations across the Republic of Ireland. Our members include hotel, public and private leisure centres, swimming pools, gyms, studios, recreational facilities, education providers and activity centres. The Marketing and Communications officer will be responsible for building and growing the profile of Ireland Active through traditional and digital channels.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Creation and implementation of a communications & marketing plan in line with Ireland Active’s strategy.
  • Development and execution of brand, marketing and communications across all relevant channels including email, ezine, website and social media.
  • Manage and maintain Ireland Active’s digital presence including social media platforms and website, ensuring content is appropriate, relevant and engaging.
  • Generate engaging and informative content for various channels (Ireland Active, REPs Ireland, LHF Skillnet), including social media, website, newsletters, and press releases.
  • Ensuring consistent messaging across all communication platforms.
  • Maintaining and updating the Ireland Active, REPs Ireland and LHF Skillnet websites.
  • Monitoring and assessment of media coverage of health & fitness including updating media databases and conducting associated research.
  • Providing coverage and reports for key Ireland Active events including annual conference, NQS awards, National Fitness Day along with other company events.
  • Foster strong relationships with Ireland Active members by providing timely and relevant updates by ezine and promoting member-exclusive benefits.
  • Identify effectiveness and impact of current marketing initiatives with tracking, analysis and optimize accordingly.
  • Create and issue all press releases, media statements and news issued by Ireland Active.
  • Liaise with external graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and other media-production specialists integral to the completion of marketing projects.
  • Develop and adhere to the budget and adhere to any ad hoc duties or project work as required.

Desirable Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.
  • 2 years relevant experience in a marketing and/or communications role.
  • Experience with Content Management (CMS) systems like WordPress.
  • Basic Design skills.
  • Strong, versatile copywriting skills, proofreading and editing.
  • Experience working with Google analytics/ Google AdWords / Adobe / Mailchimp / Hootsuite / Canva.
  • Good organisational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Desire to take full ownership of assigned projects and can work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Able to work on own initiative as well as being a team player.

Terms and Conditions: The role is a full-time position, subject to a successful probationary period of six months. The role will be based at the offices of Ireland Active, Irish Sport HQ, Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin 15.

Salary range: This is dependent on experience and negotiation with successful candidate.
