Role Overview
Cycling Ireland is looking for a Communications and Marketing Officer to join the passionate and hard-working team at our new Head Office on the Sport Ireland Campus in Blanchardstown, Dublin. We are seeking a talented professional to devise and deliver a Communications and Marketing plan to service our stakeholders and improve the visibility of Cycling in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
• Devise and deliver a Communications & Marketing plan in line with Cycling Ireland’s Strategy.
• Develop and execute brand and marketing campaigns across all relevant channels including email, website and social media. Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication platforms.
• Manage and maintain Cycling Ireland’s digital presence including social media platforms and website, ensuring content is appropriate, relevant and engaging.
• Develop a planned content calendar for all communication platforms with the goal to significantly increase the visibility of Cycling across all media platforms in Ireland.
• Identify and develop new social media opportunities.
• Develop and maintain an excellent relationship with key stakeholders in Irish Cycling and ensure clear communications in relation to our strategic plan and our ambitions at all levels of our all-island organisation; prioritising our staff, our clubs and members, our coaches and officials, our volunteers, our provincial councils, our board, our athletes, Sport Ireland, Sport Northern Ireland, Local Authorities and the media.
• Foster strong relationships with Cycling Ireland members by providing timely and relevant updates email and promoting member-exclusive benefits.
• Maintain and develop working relationships with key journalists and relevant media contacts.
• Create and issue all press releases and media statements.
• Attend events, provide coverage, and conduct interviews: As a Media and Communications Officer, you’ll actively participate in events, gather relevant information, and create engaging content to keep the public informed and connected. Whether it’s a press conference, competitive event or community gathering, your role involves capturing the essence of the moment and sharing it through various channels
• Maximise and manage all media opportunities to ensure increased visibility for Cycling in Ireland and a positive profile of Cycling Ireland.
• Support the Chief Executive with relationship management of Sponsors and the fulfilment of sponsorship obligations.
• Ad hoc duties or project work as assigned.
Required Experience
• Third level qualification in Communications, Marketing, Branding, Public Relations, Business Studies or other relevant related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the areas of Communications and Marketing.
• Excellent communication skills with proven and demonstrable experience of working on a wide range of marketing projects.
• A strong understanding of the structure of sport in Ireland, preferably cycling.
• Exceptional writing skills and the ability to produce relevant and engaging content on all digital platforms.
• Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office.
• Experience in website content management tools and social media. Additional Information
• This is a fixed term contract to cover a maternity leave, starting January 6th, 2025, until the end of July 2025.
• The position will incorporate the need for flexible working hours including occasional evening and/or weekend work.
• Full driving licence required.
• The position is full time based on a 37.5 working hour week.
• The role is physically located at Cycling Ireland Head Office, Unit 5 Sport HQ2, Sport Ireland Campus, Snugborough Road, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15, CX15 AC8A.
• Some international and domestic travel is commensurate with this role, and the post holder will be reimbursed expenses with prior agreement for reasonable travel and costs in relation to carrying out their duties.
