Overview

The ISA PR & Communications Director will oversee all aspects of the ISA’s communications for the core and high performance activities of the organisation. With the support of the ISA’s operational staff, they will be responsible for the development and delivery of a PR and Communications strategy to include the Core and High Performance areas. This role will ideally be filled by an individual with the relevant skills and experience, or it may be possible to split the role for two part time contracts.

Objectives

  • Identify ISA communication policy – what and to whom
  • Raise the profile of the ISA amongst its stakeholders
  • Raise the profile of Sailing in Ireland
  • Raise the profile of ISA Performance Programme
  • Build mutually beneficial relationships with sponsors

Responsibilities:

General for Core & High Performance:

  • Social media management and development
  • Website management and development
  • Recruitment and management of interns
  • Building of the ISA Brand and delivery of consistent messaging
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts
  • Event PR

Core Operations:

The key role within the core operations is that of communications and relationship building with our stakeholders.

  • Work with ISA Regional Development officers to Develop effective communication links with ISA clubs, members and other stakeholders
  • Liaise with Afloat to deliver relevant on line messaging and targeted communication
  • Raise public awareness of sailing opportunities and access in their local area
  • Organisation of ISA Awards Event

High Performance:

The High Performance area requires someone with commercial experience to source and manage sponsorship agreements, and to raise the profile of the sport in the media.

  • Planning and execution of PR campaigns for all activities including European and World Championships, Olympic and Paralympic Games
  • Development of written materials (championship reports, general articles, press releases, general media pieces etc.)
  • Management of existing sponsorship contracts
  • Identification and pursuit of new sponsorship opportunities
  • Coordination of events (press conferences, photocalls, corporate outings etc.)
  • Management of video and photographic outputs
  • Crisis/issues management
  • Analysis and reporting

Required Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Office, Google Analytics, CMS
  • Self-starter with the motivation, commitment, enthusiasm and drive to define clear goals and execute plans to deliver against them
  • High energy & enthusiasm levels
  • Creative and strategic thinker with flair for customer engagement and brand building
  • Strong relationship building with ability to communicate at all levels
  • Understanding of the sports environment
  • Knowledge of graphics, production and printing, video and broadcast media, the internet and emerging media

Flexibility in this job is required and willingness to work some weekends is essential. Travel will be required.

Salary in the Region of €45k-€50k depending on experience
