Job Purpose
The High-Performance Director will provide leadership, management, and strategic direction to all areas of the Performance Directorate and Rowing Ireland’s high-performance programmes. This role involves creating a performance-driven, inclusive environment that supports athletes, coaches, and staff to achieve success while promoting personal growth and well-being.

Rowing Ireland is the National Governing Body for rowing, representing over 8,500 registered racing members and 103 affiliated clubs across Ireland. Supported by funding from Sport Ireland and Sport NI, our mission is to inspire and enable excellence in rowing.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Deliver performance strategies to meet annual and long-term international success targets.
Foster a culture of well-being, empowerment, and collaboration among athletes and staff.
Athlete and Coach Management:
Oversee athlete well-being, training, and performance.
Develop clear selection policies and provide regular feedback.
Performance Programme Development:
Integrate evidence-based practices in coaching, sports science, and athlete support.
Maintain and enhance the National Rowing Centre as a world-class training facility.
Financial Oversight:
Manage the high-performance budget, including funding applications and reporting to Sport Ireland and Sport NI.
Organisational Collaboration:
Work closely with the CEO, Board, and stakeholders to align the high-performance programme with Rowing Ireland’s strategic goals.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with athletes, coaches, funding agencies, sponsors, and international bodies.
Essential Experience and Competencies
Proven leadership in a high-performance organisation, with at least seven years of management experience.
Extensive knowledge of high-performance sport, particularly rowing, at domestic and international levels.
Expertise in finance, human resources, and strategic planning.
A strong track record of working with public funding agencies and corporate partners.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and promoting a drug-free culture.
Role Details
Location: National Rowing Centre, Cork, with regular national and international travel.
Term: Four-year contract.
Salary: Negotiable, based on experience.
Hours: Flexible, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
