Cumann Lúthchleas Gael is Ireland’s leading sporting and cultural organisation with membership approaching one million people and more than 500,000 playing participants at all levels.  Inspired and supported by the voluntary efforts of its members, the GAA is focused on the development and promotion of Gaelic Games and culture nationally and in local communities.  Home of the GAA, Croke Park Stadium is Ireland’s foremost sporting and entertainment venue.  Over 1,500,000 visitors are welcomed annually to national and international events and the Croke Park campus also features the Croke Park Conference Centre and GAA Museum.

As part of a rapidly expanding and important area of communications the GAA is looking for a creative and dynamic person to be responsible for developing and managing its social media communities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the growth of the GAA online community. This will be achieved nationally and by assisting the growth of social media channels at provincial, county, club and international levels.
The GAA Social Media Coordinator will be responsible for the fostering, interaction, education, engagement and discussion regarding all GAA matters through the use of online communities such as Twitter and Facebook amongst others.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and implement a GAA social media plan in conjunction with the GAA communications plan
  • Coordinate the publication of written, video and visual content
  • Develop innovative media content, while ensuring messages are informative and in line with GAA values
  • Manage and moderate social media presence on all relevant platforms
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for queries on social media platforms
  • Liaise closely with GAA units to ensure proper online messaging and relevancy
  • Monitor and analyse social media trends to ensure the Association remains a leading force on social media
  • Ensure GAA social media pages are the leading voice in GAA news
  • Develop and execute initiatives to increase engagement and add value to the online community experience
  • Enhance the match day experience of supporters in GAA stadiums and at home by maximising available resources regarding social media
  • Educate and assist the wider GAA family in the area of social media
Skills/Abilities required:
  • At least three years’ experience in a similar role of building online communities
  • In-depth knowledge of digital technology and social media with a working knowledge of web and mobile technologies
  • Understand the social media universe including Facebook, YouTube, Foursquare, Flickr, Twitter, blogs and video operation etc.
  • Possess excellent writing skills and the ability to create editorial quickly
  • Strong knowledge of GAA
  • Appropriate third level qualification in online journalism/marketing, digital communications or other related area
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, strong ability to work in high-pressure situations
  • Excellent administrative and IT skills are essential
  • Highly creative thinker with a strong aptitude for multitasking, coordinating multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with multiple teams simultaneously, both internal and external, in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of Irish would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of web analytics software and would also be an advantage
