Avoca Hockey Club is a vibrant hockey club located in south Dublin. Formed in 1895, Avoca Hockey Club is one of the oldest and biggest hockey clubs in Ireland with c. 700 members and countless volunteers. The 4 Men and 5 Ladies’ teams compete in both National and Leinster competitions. The Men’s 1st competed in the EY Irish Hockey League Division 2 in the 2019/20 season. Men and Ladies’ Vets play in their respective Leinster leagues along with 18 Colts teams competing in Leinster Leagues and younger players taking part in blitzes.
Avoca Hockey Club offers a continued source of fun and development for both children and adults. After many years of dedicated service, Avoca Hockey Club’s current Director of Hockey is stepping down. The Club is now seeking a new Director of Hockey. This position is important to the development of coaches/players and will play a key role in continued success of Avoca Hockey Club for many years to come.
Director of Hockey (Part-Time)
Reporting to the President and Vice President, the Director of Hockey will take responsibility for the selection and management of the Club’s coaches. The Director of Hockey will work closely with coaches on a one-to-one and collective basis to ensure that records, scheduling and other key materials/processes are managed in a smooth and professional manner. The Director of Hockey will play a key role in the devising coaching models, developing players’ skills and maintaining the Club’s competitive strength for seasons to come.
Avoca Hockey Club is seeking someone with a strong understanding of sport planning and management. The ideal candidate will show a strong drive for achievement and success building. The post-holder will also demonstrate a range competences and experiences, including budget management, exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
