Cycling Ireland (CI) is the National Governing Body for Cycling (Road, Track, MTB, Para, BMX) and associated disciplines on the island of Ireland. Cycling is recognised as a priority sport in the National Sports Policy and is one of Ireland’s most popular sporting activities with an estimated 250,000 people participating on a regular basis. In addition, cycling is a popular form of transport with 9.8% of the population using pedal power as a means of transport.

Job Title: Cycling Ireland (CI) Assistant Accountant
Responsible to: Chief Financial Officer
Contract Duration: Permanent
Responsibilities: Finance administration
Hours of work: 37 hours per week
Salary: Dependent on experience
Location: Cycling Ireland offices located at the National Sports Campus, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
Duties will include:
• Maintaining Sage 200 Financial Accounting System
• Preparing Accounts up to Trial Balance
o Preparing accruals and prepayments
o Processing business expenses
o Completing bank reconciliations
o Balance Sheet Accounts reconciliation
• Completing financial reports on a regular basis and providing information to the management team.
• Administering the Debtors & Creditors Ledger
• Assisting with budget preparation
• Assisting with internal and external audits
• Managing monthly budgeting tasks
• Assisting with the sporting grant application and claims processes
• Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
• Assisting with all statutory returns
• Other ad hoc duties as may arise

|Qualification & Attainments
|Higher level Leaving Certificate including English or Maths (or equivalent qualification)
Studying for an accountancy Professional or Technician qualification.
Excellent understanding of double entry accounting.
Computer literate and competent in the use of accounting packages such as Sage, Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
Fluent in the English Language
|Third level qualification in finance
Formal Accountancy Training
Experience in using and developing accounting systems
Interested in database management and IT systems
|Relevant Experience||At least 3 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
Interest in Financial matters
|5 years’ experience in a similar role
Understanding of the influence of Finance in managing an organisation
An understating of the Irish sports section
|Special Aptitudes||Excellent attention to detail
Proficient IT skills particularly regarding database management
Proven record of working to a deadline.
Excellent organisational skills
|Previous experience in an accounting administration role
Interest in developing systems and processes
|General Aptitudes||Accuracy and attention to detail with an inquisitive mind|
|Disposition||Good Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to be self-motivated, resourceful, work on own initiative in a flexible and co-operative manner.
