Volunteer Role Vacancy – Commissioner
The Irish American Football Association (IAFA) is seeking to appoint a Commissioner who has a strong interest in sport and is willing to volunteer their time to a sporting organisation. This is a volunteer position and the successful applicant will be appointed to a rolling 1-year contract.

IAFA is the National Governing Body for American football in Ireland and is recognised as such by Sport Ireland and the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). At present IAFA is a volunteer-run organisation and there are over 1,500 active members ,involved in the sport at various levels. American football is a rapidly growing sport in Ireland, and we are expanding our Management team to meet this increased demand.

IAFA is managed by a Board of Management, members of which are elected by the membership, who in turn appoint the Commissioner to act as the head of the Administration.

Role of Commissioner
The Commissioner acts as the head of the Administration and reports directly to the IAFA Management Board.

The Administration is made up of Finance and Communications along with the day-to-day running of the IAFA league. Both the Finance and Communication Directors report directly to the Commissioner.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensures Director of Finance and Communications Officer are performing their function. Can appoint sub-committees to assist.
• Finance director and finance manager oversee all finances for IAFA. This includes processing of all payments, reconciliation of accounts and budget management across all departments in a timely manner as set out in IAFA policies set by the finance department.
• Communication includes the running of all IAFA communications and social media e.g. emails, website, Facebook, twitter and Instagram.

Day to day running of the IAFA league which includes:
• Organising of yearly audits with teams;
• Club membership applications;
• Running of online membership system, currently Azolve;
• Scheduling of season games;
• Communicating with teams if rescheduling of games is needed;
• Communicates with all relevant parties in the event of a change of game venue, time etc;
• Ensuring all teams meet the requirements to participate;
• Ensuring all players are registered;
• Ensuring concussion protocol is kept up to date and adhered to;
• Deals with any team complaints;
• Ensures IAFA bylaws are adhered to.
• All league finals are held in suitable venues and organised to IAFA standard.
• Invited to attend IAFA board meetings but is not entitled to vote.
• Provides a monthly update report to the IAFA Management Board in advance of the meeting.
• Organising of annual AGM and any necessary SGM’s.
• Reports any rule breaches or necessary complaints to the IAFA Management Board.
• Deals with any disciplinary issues and can refer to a disciplinary board if needed. Disciplinary board to be set and organised by the Commissioner.
• Assist the board in any grant applications.
• Adhere to Sport Ireland requests for information in a timely manner.
• Liaise with IFAF (International Federation of American football) on all football and transfer related business.
• Coordinate, maintain and execute the Core Operational Plan for its Administration department each year with realistic goals.
• Be involved in the associations strategic future planning.
• Attend international events, meetings etc when requested to.
• Show leadership in governance of the sport and to adhere to guidelines set.
• Represent the association in a professional manner at all times, internally and externally.
• Liaise with and act as the main contact for all teams regarding any day-to-day issues.
Provide any reports, stats etc on the membership as requested.
