Wheelchair Basketball 3v3
On June 12th some of our members from all parts of Ireland took part in the 3 v 3 Summer Slam ran by Basketball Ireland. IWA-Sport had 10 teams competing in this Roadshow on Saturday in the NBA Tallaght. This was the first senor competition for our players since March 2020. Congratulations to the winning team, named “The winners” who won the wheelchair basketball event. Well done to all who attended and were involved.
Coach Education
A huge thanks to Basketball Ireland Sport Development Coaches for taking part in our Level 0 Intro to Coaching Wheelchair Basketball course on June 2nd. Looking forward to working together again very soon!
Gym Reopening
The IWA-Sports Centre & Gym reopened its doors on June 14th, 2021. The Sports Centre has been closed for several months so all staff and members were extremely eager and grateful to get back The gym in Clontarf has a brand-new look and plenty of fresh equipment. We are so excited to welcome back new and current members. There is also a new class timetable on the way. Mayo Sports Ability Week
IWA-Sport were delighted to host a “Come & Try” Event in Castlebar Co. Mayo on Monday June 21st at the “Muga” playground beside Lough Lannagh complex. We had a range of activities such as: Wheelchair Basketball, Athletics, football, relays. It was a really fun and enjoyable event for all involved. Children between the ages of 5-15 took part in the event that was part of the Mayo Sports Ability week hosted by Mayo Sports Partnership. Well done to all involved.
Come & Try Tennis
IWA-Sport in partnership with Enjoy Tennis are hosting a Senior & Junior Wheelchair Tennis “Come and Try” Day in Lower Agada Tennis Club, Cork on the 3rd of July.
The format of the day is:
10:00-11:30 : Warm-up: Skills/Technical training session for all competitors
12:00-2:30 : Fun Competition: Doubles Tournament
The event is open to all ages and all abilities. All newcomers are welcome!

Return to Sport
Many of the IWA Sport Clubs have returned to activities all over the country. After several months of waiting clubs such as: Rebel Wheelers, Kingdom Wheelblasters, North East thunder, Dublin Swifts, Clonaslee WBC, Irish Para Athletics, Tipperary Warriors, South East Swifts, Galway Speeders and Irish Para Powerlifting. Many have been taking part in outdoor activities, we are hoping to see plenty more clubs returning soon. Well done & welcome back everyone.
We will also see the return of Para Athletics. There are several upcoming events for the season ahead. The next competition is the James Boyle Games on July 25th in Templemore. Best of Luck Everyone.
