And much more.

What is your personal background in sport?
Being from Tipperary I have never been far from a hurling field, but I have always had a very keen interest in all sports, I played all the sports I could in school to reduce class time!

In my younger years I participated in Athletics for Nenagh Olympic AC, played Football and GAA for Nenagh, and I was fortunate enough to represent Tipperary in both hurling and football up to U21 level.

Apart from the enjoyment and many friendships made while playing, winning a Tipperary (& Kildare) Senior Hurling championship medal are the key medal highlights of my hurling career.

My sports bucket list is a rather long one and included running a marathon and I am proud to say that I have completed two Dublin City Marathons – the New York Marathon is still on the list!!

Now that my playing days are behind me, I’d like to think I am giving something back as I am currently coaching the Celbridge U/13 Camogie team (who are looking forward to Féile 2020), which is very enjoyable…most days!

What do you find most interesting about working in and around the sporting sector?
I have always enjoyed watching sport, but now that my day to day takes me into sport, I find it very interesting meeting with people/potential clients within the sports sector and getting an understanding of the business side of their sport or organisation.

A lot of people do not see the planning, organising and collective efforts that go in to running events and I like finding out about the challenges they face and the fact that they are constantly looking to improve their ‘off-field’ performance i.e. commercial, which Future Ticketing are able to support them with.

What was the last sports event you attended?

  • The All-Ireland Club Finals in Croke Park on Jan 19th.

If you had an open ticket which sporting event around the world would you attend?
That’s a tough one, I need more than one!

  • The Olympic 100m Final
  • World Cup Final
  • The Us Masters Golf

This list could go on and on!

And if you could arrange for one victory for a sports team or star that matters to you what would it be?
To see our Celbridge U/13 Camogie girls win their Spring League would be priceless.

Others would include:
Shane Lowry hitting the winning putt to win this year’s Ryder Cup.
Tipperary Hurlers to win the ‘5-in-a-row’!
Tottenham Hotspur to win the Premier League!!

What are you most looking forward to for Sport in 2020?
Watching the Tokyo Olympics to see how many medals Team Ireland can bring home – double figures hopefully!
