Swim Ireland is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Education Development Officer who has a strong interest in sport and education with a strong administrative background and experience in online learning.Swim Ireland is the National Governing Body for the Aquatic Disciplines in Ireland, recognised as such by the Irish Government, Sport Ireland, Sport Northern Ireland, the Olympic Council of Ireland and FINA and LEN, the World and European Aquatic Governing Bodies.

Reporting to: Education Business Manager

Role Description: To manage the development of Swim Ireland’s CPD opportunities, the awarding of Swim Ireland’s qualifications, delivery of Safeguarding Courses and support in the commercialization of Swim Ireland’s Learn to Swim Programme.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Swim Ireland Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

  • Support the day to day development of Swim Ireland’s online CPD platform
  • Liaise with key stakeholders in the development of Swim Ireland’s online CPD platform with a particular emphasis on Coaching Swimming
  • Support the development of technical content of Swim Ireland’s online CPD courses
  • Report progress of development of Swim Ireland’s online CPD platform to the Education Business Manager
  • Plan and deliver presentations on Swim Ireland CPD opportunities to members, clubs, facilities and partner organisations
  • Develop and implement annual Aquatic CPD weekends
  • Manage the organisation of Swim Ireland CPD Courses from registration and delivery, through to processing of completed courses
  • Process payments for Swim Ireland’s CPD courses and update all payment records
  • Manage booking and electronic awarding of ASCA CPD modules
  • Monitor and quality assure Swim Ireland CPD delivery

Awarding Body

  • Implement Awarding Body Policies and Procedures – includes but is not limited to the management of course results and re-assessments
  • Processing of all overseas qualifications and other local qualifications and equivalencies

Swim Ireland Learn to Swim Programme

  • Support the Education Business Manager in the presentation and implementation of Swim Ireland’s Learn to Swim programme to facilities and partner organisations across Ireland
  • Support the Education Business Manager in sales of Swim Ireland’s Learn to Swim programme
  • Provide telephone and online support to facilities and clubs implementing Swim Ireland’s Learn to Swim programme
  • Organise and assist in the delivery of training to facilities and clubs implementing Swim Ireland’s Learn to Swim Programme

Swim Ireland Safeguarding Courses

  • Manage the organisation of Swim Ireland Safeguarding Courses from registration and delivery through to processing completed courses
  • Process payments for Swim Ireland Safeguarding Courses and update all payment records
  • In partnership with Swim Ireland’s National Children’s Officer allocate Tutors to Swim Ireland Safeguarding Courses
  • Input all information regarding Safeguarding Courses to the Swim Education Database


  • Assist in the marketing of Swim Ireland Education at local and national events
  • Utilise Social Media and email to advertise upcoming CPD, Safeguarding Courses and Swim Ireland’s Learn to Swim Programme
  • Upload new course registrations to the Swim Ireland website and shop
