Reporting to the Sports Programme Manager, the Head of Gymnastics will provide successful delivery of all Gymnastics Programmes delivered by the National Sports Campus ensuring these programmes are delivered to the highest standards, in a safe and welcoming environment.

  • Develop and manage in conjunction with the Sports Programme Manager, the effective delivery of the Gymnastic academy and all other Gymnastic programmes and activities delivered by NSC
  • Develop and co-ordinate a range of opportunities aimed at increasing participation and revenue in the academy and other gymnastic activities
  • Develop programmes that establish and maintain effective links with schools, colleges, gymnastic clubs and other relevant agencies involved in the development and delivery of gymnastics
  • Assist if and where required, the Service Delivery Manager, in ensuring gymnastic events on the National Sports Campus are delivered to the highest standards
  • Create and deliver a thorough and in-depth coach education programme to up skill and develop our teams
  • Assist where required the Sports Programme Manager and Commercial Department in developing a commercially viable Gymnastic Training Centre bookings schedule
  • Develop, implement and manage a Gymnastics Programme operational management system (NOP’s) for all activities to include agreed syllabus, lesson plan, training and development plans to ensure a best practice coaching infrastructure
    Lead & manage our team of Gymnastic Coaches
  • Recruit all appropriate Gymnastic Coaches and ensure a best practice ethos is fostered and maintained by all in the department
  • Provide a coach/teacher training and education programme to meet the relevant needs of the programmes being delivered
    Ensure all programmes are delivered in a safe manner
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure that valid Risk Assessments are in place for all departmental activities and programmes
  • Ensure that the teachers and staff are adequately qualified for the classes they deliver and that the correct pupil to teacher ratio is adhered to at all times
  • Ensure all programmes are operated as advertised to ensure optimum financial benefit to the company
  • Provide reports to the Sports Programme Manager as and when required
  • Manage the successful delivery of Oncourse on a daily basis
  • Complete additional duties as assigned from time to time by the Sports Programme Manager or Head of Sports Operations
  • Assist the Sports Programme Manager in the development and continuous improvement of a 4-year business plan for the Gymnastics Programme
  • Deliver high quality sports sessions that sets a standard for the team to follow

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a Coach education and training programme
  • Continuously improve your Gymnastics knowledge and skills to ensure the NSC remains up-to-date on all Gymnastic coaching practices and trends

Internal and External Relationships:

  • Work in partnership with internal departments such as Commercial, Maintenance and Finance to ensure all activities are delivered to the highest standards
  • Work with Gymnastics Ireland to develop new opportunities for participation in the sport
  • Work with Sport Ireland to ensure programmes and activities meet National standards for best practice

Jobholder entry requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a sport related subject
  • Demonstrable experience designing and delivering coach education or teacher training programmes
  • Minimum of Level 2 Gymnastics Ireland Coaching qualification or Internationally recognised equivalent
  • 5-10 years working in the leisure and/or teaching industry
  • In depth understanding of Gymnastics Ireland programmes such as GymStart & GymEdge
  • Demonstrable understanding of Irish Gymnastics from recreation to performance
  • Sound knowledge of key LTAD principles
  • An understanding of key principles of customer service
  • In depth experience developing and leading a recreational Gymnastics programme
  • Sports development experience
