Introduction

 Tennis Ireland is the National Governing Body for Tennis on the island of Ireland, and is a company limited by guarantee.  There are approx. 175 clubs with circa 50k active members on the island of Ireland. The Board of the Company is made up of a max of 8 Directors nominated by the 4 provincial councils, 5 Portfolio Directors who take Board responsibility for key areas and a President. A number of Portfolio director positions are now available, due to the current directors coming to the end of their terms of office. The Board is seeking expressions of interest from the Tennis community for the following voluntary positions:

Portfolio Director (Finance)

General

  • Committed to the development of Irish Tennis on the Island of Ireland.
  • Dedicated to making a significant contribution to Irish Tennis and be in a position to commit the necessary time to the role, and deliver on the Board responsibilities involved , over a min. 3 year timeframe.
  • Committed to guide and support the development, and implementation of, excellent financial management, governance and best practices.

Experience / Skills

  • Financial qualification and experience
  • Previous Board experience or senior leadership position in a business or club environment.
  • Experience in a volunteer organisation.
  • Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to support and help develop, implement and support the successful delivery of state of the art financial management processes, procedures and strategies.
  • Guide the Board in all areas of financial reporting and decision making.

 

Portfolio Director (Commercial)

General

  • Committed to the development of Irish Tennis on the Island of Ireland.
  • Dedicated to making a significant contribution to Irish Tennis, and be in a position to commit the necessary time to the role and deliver on the Board responsibilities involved, over a 3 year timeframe.
  • Work with the Board and the Executive in the identification of sponsorship and funding opportunities from private, commercial and philanthropic sources.
  • Work closely with the Executive and guide the Board on the strategy regarding all commercial issues.

 

Experience / Skills

  • Successful record in securing/managing sponsorship and funding opportunities from private, commercial and philanthropic sources.
  • Previous Board experience or senior leadership position in a business or club environment
  • Experience in a volunteer organisation
  • Good business/commercial experience, in the private or public sectors.
  • Strong leadership, communication and, most importantly, influencing skills.
