Job Description
Role: Business Development Officer
Reporting to: Director of Golf and Business Development
Contract: 2 year fixed term contract

Overview of Role

The successful job holder will provide dedicated business support to Golf Clubs throughout the Island of
Ireland which will cover the following support areas: club strategy and business plans, financial,
compliance, marketing, club membership, training, health & safety. The job holder will have a good
understanding of business issues and be seen by others as having a deep level of commercial acumen. It is
expected that the job holder will be solutions oriented, provide sound strategic advice to clubs and be
able to determine what a golf club should do now to bring about a more profitable and successful future.


• To deliver the CGI’s business services strategy to Golf Clubs
• To establish positive relationships with golf clubs in Ireland
• To understand the Golf Clubs needs and offer effective solutions and services
• To achieve relevant CGI targets
• To ensure maximum use of CGI’s current and future club and business services.
• To assist Golf Clubs in embedding appropriate governance guidelines
• To work closely with Golf Club committees in assisting in the development of business plans and
providing support as required
• To achieve and report on Sport NI targets.
• To develop and deliver a club accreditation system in partnership with Sport NI.
• Signposting to support for Health & Safety matters
• Provide to Golf Clubs constitutional and organisational templates as required
• Signposting to Safeguarding Services
• Providing appropriate marketing support
• Provide guidance in the areas of membership recruitment and retention of membership
• Signposting to Governing Bodies Services
• Deliver training on practices/issues that will be of relevance to the clubs
• Deliver presentations to Golf Clubs
• Attend Clubs meetings and seminars
• Financial guidance and signposting to Clubs
• Observing CGI reporting and administration requirements
• Maintaining comprehensive and up-to-date records of Clubs’ progress
Personal Specification
The successful candidate will possess the following capabilities and attributes:
• Business / Financial degree desirable
• Strong client management skills
• Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions
• Ability to use own initiative, a self-motivated individual who is seen as a self-starter
• Ability to cope with competing demands and to prioritise tasks
• Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation
