Cricket Ireland is the governing body for the game at both performance and participation levels throughout All-Ireland, representing the interests of both the men’s and women’s game. The future of Irish cricket is incredibly bright given the growth of the sport driven by significant success on the international stage in the last decade leading to unprecedented visibility for Irish cricket at home and abroad.

Our emergence as a sport of national significance will only grow following the recent elevation of Cricket Ireland to ICC Full Membership and Test Status and a major revamp of international cricket structures that will see Ireland playing all three formats of the game at the highest level for the foreseeable future.


Assistant Accountant


The Accountants role is key in assisting the finance department to deliver timely management information. Acting as a support to the Financial Controller and other team members involved in the day to day running of Cricket Irelands financial matters. The role will cover a wide spectrum of tasks which may vary depending on the department’s workload.

Previous experience in a similar role
Excellent numeracy skills and attention to detail
Proven strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise and to work on own initiative

Demonstrable working knowledge of modern Microsoft IT and software packages including Sage, Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts
Oversee, review and complete balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and post month end journals and check accuracy of nominal leger postings
Preparation and timely delivery of departmental reports documenting actual results, budget variances and post-match reconciliations
Collate payroll information and prepare file for payment
Manage the timely submission of tax returns including PAYE and Vat
Prepare bank reconciliations for multi-currency bank accounts including Euro, Sterling and Dollar accounts
Manage credit control, liaise with customers and other departments to ensure timely receipts of payments
Prepare financial information and reports for Sport NI grant compliance
Assist the Media and Communications Manager to implement and maintain a GDPR policy
Support and contribute to the year-end audit process to ensure that the process runs smoothly and in accordance with the planning timetable and audit requirements
Manage Petty cash, maintain appropriate records and prepare regular reconciliations
Support the maintenance of proper systems of financial control
Continually seek examples of leading good practice
Any other tasks relevant to the role
